  4. stephen says;

    so how can they justify having “funny pictures” as one of the tags i found it to be quite the opposite

  5. The red neck flag would be the confederate flag.
    Red = People who’s mother is also there sister
    Blue = People who’s grandpa is also there father and uncle
    White = People who managed to be there own parent
    Red+Blue+White = People who are retarded regardless of inbreeding

  6. HappyPanda says;

    very original and to the point.

    Genital mutilation??

  8. Anonymous says;
    30 Jan 2008 - 9:20

    A common practice in many 3rd world nations, mostly to women but also sometimes to young boys.

  9. In the middle east they cut off a woman’s clitoris so she won’t enjoy sex… that’s genital mutilation…

  10. Okay, first of all DAN, not everyone in the South is inbred. So there goes THAT theory. INFACT, most people in the South are normal. Where you’re thinking is Alabama. So the next time you think of saying something IGNORANT like that, first learn about the area, THEN say something, dick wad.

  11. “Not knowing where is Iraq?”

    How about “knowing English?”

  12. And, Dan–people who don’t know the difference between “their” and “there” or “whose” and “who’s” really shouldn’t call anyone else “retarded.”

  13. This is a campaign made by a Portuguese magazine and by a company called “Foote Cone & Belding”

    The campaign won a Golden Lion in Cannes festival in 2005.

    For the americans out there i can only say: Oh how the rest of the world laughs of your ignorance… Americans living out of USA are the ones that know how your mind is made by your tvs and papers.

    Get out and see the Real World, and for once… live!

  14. a (better)confederate flag:
    white = number of rednecks who graduated college
    blue = number of rednecks who graduated high school
    red = Number of rednecks who can’t even spell “Confederate”
    red+white+blue = number of rednecks who list their favorite “sport” as NASCAR.

  15. Zlatko says;

    how can i add my flag…the flag of bosnia plz answer

  16. Very interesting way of looking at the world, using country’s flags to represent the state of affairs within.

  17. Harshal says;

    What about the Flag of India? Any thoughts?

  18. Bitty2 says;
    31 Jan 2008 - 9:03

    ROFL Matt I am from the north, yup a Yankee and we like NASCAR too, Daytona not to far off.. Oh yea I agree with your flag like it much better…

  19. this is really cool.

  20. Tuzo, I don’t know where you got your info but in the Middle East it is illegal and sacreligious to mutilate a woman, especially in that manner!! So get your facts straight. I don’t know what your parents did to you but deal with it and don’t blame an entire region for sh** they DON’T DO.

  21. How’s this for India flag?

    orange=Indians who hate Pakistani
    green=Pakistanis who hate Indians
    white=Everyone who hated Ghandi (please excuse me if I misspelled that)
    Blue=People who don’t use caste as a excuse for racial discrimination

  22. Contrary to popular belief, there are more people in this world who do not speak English than there are that do.

    It speaks volumes for America that their flag was listed with countries that perform genital mutilation, have grossly inadequate health care and that have 90% of their population living in poverty.

    America’s government’s crime is ignorance and perpetuating that ignorance in it’s populace.

    We are all guilty of the crime of apathy.

  23. Chris says;
    01 Feb 2008 - 6:22

    Very interesting, but how you can call it funny is beyond me. Eye opening is a better description.

  24. I really like this, but I wish the flags had a caption saying what country they are as I had to look a couple of them up.

  25. hey pedro,

    nice name

    USA rules

    spicks blow

  26. Heheh, I’ve also seen a good Poland one

    White - moved to the UK
    Red - still in Poland

  27. Susan says;
    02 Feb 2008 - 7:12

    Hey Pedro…if you hate America so much, why don’t you come get all of your illegal relatives out of our country and off our welfare system.

  28. Moron2 says;
    02 Feb 2008 - 7:19

    Europe is a country? WTF

  29. i agree with the people who said that these pictures were funny. interesting, yes chris.

    this is sad, but cool.

  30. er, not funny i mean.

  31. I feel that lumping all of the United States into one ignorant category is a tad ignorant itself. Thanks to Al Gore’s invention called the World Wide Web, we are able to view media from places other than the U.S. Not all of us are hypnotized by the American media and Bush administration.

  32. Confederate Flag

    Red = Number of people smart enough to vote Conservative and to totally ignore the New York times

    Blue = Number of people who understand that the murder of unborn children is wrong, and that only it is only championed by those whose ignorance is surpassed only by their stupidity.

    White = Number of people who were so confused by the brilliant observations of Al Gore and John Kerry that they rigged the elections so that they would be foiled in their misguided attempts to become the President of the USA.

  33. You know that malaria is caused by a parasite, not a virus, right?

    “It speaks volumes for America that their flag was listed with countries that perform genital mutilation, have grossly inadequate health care and that have 90% of their population living in poverty.”

    Just because you group America with these countries doesn’t mean that we share the same problems. You are a moron Dave.

  37. billdave says;
    03 Feb 2008 - 17:51

    Interesting that the Americans are trying to turn this discussion into something internal (about “rednecks”) instead of international. I wasn’t so impressed with the concept, since it was essentially trying to sum up people and nations in a list of accusations and “facts”. Are we supposed to believe that the colors actually are proportionate to the things that the makers claim, or just say “Huh Huh i get it, Muslims do genital mutilation and Africans have aids.” Pure Euro-smugness, and they accuse North Americans of hubris.

  38. Willy says;

    Hmmmm….so people consume more petroleum than is produced… Not a single other person here has found that, oh, I don’t know…..IMPOSSIBLE?!?!?!?! That would be the equivalent of saying if I grow 5 apples, you can eat 20 of them. I highly doubt the accuracy of all of these.

  39. Jonson says;
    04 Feb 2008 - 5:54

    umm, there are other ways to get petrol Willy, what i mean is: BUY IT! now u understand?

  40. willy…you make no sense…that flag was just saying that a smallpopulation works for the petroleum industry. it’s not saying that each person that works to produce petroleum only produces enough for one person. see what percentage of our population works for oil companies and then tell me the proportions of employees to consumers there.

    Pedro I’m gonna try and back you up a bit. You’ve got assholes on here calling you a spick. Who the Fuck said you where you were from in the first place. Second, if were going to talk about immigrants and having them back to their county then all of our fuckin’ asses are going back because the only real Americans here are the Native Americans. FUCKN’ IDIOTS!

  45. snapdragon says;

    Female genital mutilation MAY be illegal and sacriligious but it is still performed in many Islamic countries. In my job I see the results of this horrifying practice. I don’t “lump” all Moslems together in this, simply say it IS practiced by some people.
    It needs to be stamped out totally, so the more people recognise it happens and object, the faster it will be stopped. Hiding your head in the sand about it won’t save the young girls who are horribly mutilated. Look it up on the WWW and you will learn more about it.

  46. sasori says;
    07 Feb 2008 - 7:11

    It is funny. In a John Stewart, Comedy Central way. Like a ha, ha but making a point. At least now I know more about India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, and Korea. Thanks to a White House renter whose tenuous grasp of the English language is a nucular WMD. Before shrub came along, I knew that Canada is to the north, and Mexico is to the south. And that geography lesson I learned from Slick Willie when he drove in the spike of NAFTA in the heart of American jobs.

    PS: I like Matt’s rendition of the redneck flag best. NASCAR–sport?

  47. Dave, it is interesting that you say the united states has an inadequate medical system since most people who have money in countries that have universal health care come to the United States for medical treatment instead of using their own country’s health care system

  48. To all of you who complained about the “Funny Pictures” title for the flag’s list.
    You obviously didn’t bother to go to any of the pages on this site…there is a lot of very funny stuff to find.
    I agree that the flag page was in questionable taste, but I’m so fed up with everything having to be so P.C. I could scream. I would like to start a revolt to overthrow all P.C. BS that we’ve been spoon fed for the last decade and a half!
    In the mean time, take a deep breath before you react to something or someone. Sometimes it’s just a joke.

  49. I’m pretty sure that malaria is not a virus. It’s caused by a protozoan parasite.

    Pedro may not know that Foote Cone and Belding also known as Foot Sore and Bleeding is a well known US advertising agency. Rather blows your argument doesn’t it.

  51. I was able to guess all the flags (based on recognizing the flag and the generalizations of the country based on color) except the last one. It’s not really a state so I doubt more than 2% of the world population would recognize the last flag in and of itself.

    The blue in the American flag is grossly disproportionately small. You really think 80% of Americans could name the six countries bordering Iraq? But overall I like it, anything that brings attention to international plights is fine with me.

  52. CANT WE ALL JUST GET ALONG, lol

  53. To Daniel and John:

    It wasn’t me who grouped America with the rest of the countries/flags here, it was the advertising agency. I simply stated that it said something about America that the advertising agency included it. You might also notice that it says something about the EU too.

    Maybe my point would make more sense if you compared the countries that were left off this list, presumably because their problems are not important enough to make it on to a top ten list.

    I don’t believe that America has a significant problem with people living on less than $10 per month like Brazil does. Nor do they have a a large cocaine export business. Nor do they have inadequate health care. But they were included in a list of countries and their problems and America’s problem is ignorance.

    These are interesting.

    I see typos in the last three flags. Were these printed anywhere?

  55. Well it is nice to see how some people can make intelligent arguments and some are reduced to using racist,bigoted terms! Even after seeing something that points out how awful life is for some peope it is neccessary to make one more person miserable by insulting and abusing them…SPICK what is that? funny???!!!
    Get some perspective its not all about you.

  56. Sad but true … not very funny though :P

  57. Malaria is not a virus. It is a parasite.

  58. Richard says;

    Well I recognised only the U.S. and Russian flags. But on the other hand I was aware of all the issues put forward.

    On the Burkina Faso one, I read it as ‘Children driving’ at first and I thought ‘wow, that’s not good’ then I realized what it actually said and I thought ‘well, that’s ok’. Not that I think it’s ok that children die. I just find that more believable than children driving that young.

  60. Genital mutilation predominantly takes place in the African subcontinent, it is not a religious act but a cultural.

  61. I’m with you Kevin! No individual has more or less worth than any other. No nation has more or less significance than any other. We are all connected. We share the same planet. All nations have issues they need to address, and all individuals are “works in progress.” I too, just want to get along. I value what I can learn from others. Open minds lead to open hearts.

  63. these are really good pics, but you can’t call them “funny”.

  64. Caroline says;

    okay the idiot who stood up for the south and then bashed Alabama needs to get HIS facts straight. i bet he’s from Georgia or Mississippi because its a regional thing to make fun of states for inbreeding. in north carolina people make fun of west virginia. surprise! my entire family is from Alabama and not one person plays more than one role in the family (ie. my sister is my mom and what not) so get your facts straight sir because inbreeding happened all over the united states wayyy back in the day when that was the only way people knew. not today.

  65. People are even starting to get uppity about activism…quit putting ownership on an arbitrary statement. If you really mean well, and want to make a difference, you should stop arguing on the internet and start volunteering.
